Sunset Wedding at Riu Resort

Just a couple weeks ago I traveled up to Guanacaste to photograph a sunset wedding at the beautiful Hotel Riu Resort.  It was my first time shooting a wedding at this resort, and it turned out to be a stunning backdrop for the photos. There’s a reason this resort is known for being one of the best beach wedding destinations in Costa Rica.

The bride and groom were a great couple and so natural in the photos.  Moreover, the family was so generous and inviting, they made my assistant and me feel right at home.  I was glad I was able to move around easily and get some candids of the families and the kids.

The beaches in Guanacaste are a lot different than on the Central Pacific.  Instead of the shoreline suddenly turning into jungle, the beach in Guanacaste ends in high, desert-like rock outcroppings.  It was a great opportunity to try some new ideas. I definitely hope to be doing more Hotel Riu weddings in the future. Gotta take advantage of being close enough to shoot at one of the best beach wedding destinations around!
