Photographing local beach house in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica
As a photographer, I’ve had the privilege of capturing the essence of countless homes, but none have left quite the impression as Casa Beratna in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. From the moment I stepped foot onto its elevated terrace, nestled amongst the lush greenery of Valle Pura Vida, I knew this home held a unique story waiting to be told through my lens.
Casa Beratna, was designed by Costa Rica architect and interior designer Maria Laura Chaves of Aurea Designs. She designed this beach house to break away from the conventional norms of jungle architecture, this home stands as a testament to innovation and creativity.
One of the most striking features of Casa Beratna is its seamless integration of light and space. In a region where dense foliage often shrouds homes in darkness, this residence defies the norm. Its A-line style and contemporary design not only bring a sense of modernity to the neighborhood but also invite ample natural light to flood its interior.
The strategic elevation of the home above the street not only adds character but also allows for refreshing cross ventilation, keeping the interiors cool even amidst the sweltering Costa Rican heat. This bioclimatic design, coupled with a soaring ceiling height, creates an airy and comfortable atmosphere that truly sets Casa Beratna apart.
As a photographer, I’m always drawn to spaces that seamlessly blend with their surroundings, and Casa Beratna does just that. Its elevated terrace offers a front-row seat to the vibrant wildlife of Manuel Antonio, where monkeys swing from branch to branch and scarlet macaws paint the sky with their colorful plumage.
Inside, the interior design mirrors the warmth and tranquility of its natural surroundings. Neutral colors and rich textures create a harmonious balance between modernity and comfort, inviting residents to unwind and recharge in their own sanctuary.
Through my lens, I’ve sought to capture the essence of Casa Beratna – a home that not only embraces its natural environment but also exudes a sense of warmth and hospitality to all who enter. It’s more than just a house; it’s a testament to the beauty of modern residential architecture in Manuel Antonio, where every detail tells a story of harmony and good vibes.
