Ethan and Taylor | An Engagement Proposal at La Fortuna Waterfall

A Proposal at La Fortuna Waterfall
Ethan and Taylor had been together for 16 months when he decided to propose at La Fortuna waterfall. He wanted her completely surprised, so we kept the plan tight. I got there at 7am and ran down to the spot before anyone else showed up. Ethan and Taylor came down shortly after. When he proposed, she had no idea it was coming.
What made this session different from most La Fortuna waterfall proposals is that they both got in the water. It was cold and windy that day — the kind of morning where most people stay on the viewing platform — but they went for it. Getting into the water at La Fortuna waterfall opens up a completely different set of photographs. You get the full scale of the waterfall behind you, the mist, the spray, and a perspective most visitors never see because they never get in.
I also brought an underwater camera that day, which gave us some really interesting over-the-water shots. Those are the kind of images you don’t get at a typical engagement proposal session. It was a fun morning to photograph — cold, a little wild, and completely worth it.
Ethan and Taylor, it was a really fun morning. Not every couple is going to get into a cold waterfall at 7am right after getting engaged. You made it a better session because of it.
