Dipika and Jas | A Surprise Proposal in Tamarindo

A couple walks along the beach at sunset in Tamarindo, smiling at each other. The woman wears a strapless white dress, and the man wears a white polo shirt and pants. Waves gently roll in behind them, creating the perfect romantic setting for an engagement proposal.

A Proposal on Playa Langosta, Tamarindo

Jas wanted this to be Dipika’s moment. Not a surprise exactly — she knew it was coming — but the day she had always pictured. He wanted her to feel special, to feel like everything she had imagined for this moment had actually happened. So he went all out. This is exactly the kind of proposal session I love photographing in Costa Rica.

I had them park away from the beach so Dipika wouldn’t see the setup ahead of time. Jas walked down to Playa Langosta first, and when he turned the corner he saw it — a full canopy setup with four posts and white curtains, a low table set for two, champagne glasses, florals, string lights in the trees above. Eva from Signature Picnic had put together something really beautiful. He proposed right there in front of it. Dipika was really happy. It was a great moment to be part of.

After the proposal I introduced myself and we got to work. A white horse was there waiting on the beach. Dipika got up on the horse and Jas walked beside her along the water. Playa Langosta is a really good beach for this kind of session — long, quiet, and great light at the end of the day. We finished with the sunset.

Dipika and Jas, congratulations. It was really special to be there for that.

If you’re planning a proposal in Costa Rica and want to make it feel like a real event rather than just a quick moment on the beach, get in touch. I work with local vendors who specialize in exactly this kind of setup — the picnic, the horse, the whole thing. The Tamarindo area has some really beautiful spots for it.

Capturing Your Costa Rica Wedding

I’m based in Tamarindo and I’ve been photographing weddings and portraits in Costa Rica for over 20 years.

Before every wedding I spend time getting to know my couples — who will be there, how the family interacts, what moments are worth anticipating. That’s what makes the photographs look like their wedding, not just a wedding.
