Villa in the Costa Rican Jungle: A Magical Wedding Venue Idea
Let’s brainstorm wedding venue ideas for a moment.
If money were no object, what would be your ideal wedding venue? Getting married on a mountaintop? Saying “I do” in an island paradise? Saying your vows in a villa by the sea?
An excellent alternative to a traditional wedding venue like a big hotel is to rent a private villa like Casa Fantastica, the villa that you’ll see here in Carla and Ricky’s wedding photos, for a week. That’s right you can rent a luxury wedding villa in Costa Rica and spend a whole week with your sweetie and your closest friends and family in paradise.
The best part is that you get the whole place to yourself. Nobody else will be splashing in the pool while you’re relaxing in the sun.
Doesn’t that sound like one of the best wedding venue ideas ever? Carla and Ricky certainly thought so. Stay tuned to see how amazing it turned out!
The Start of It All
Carla and Ricky’s story begins 12 years ago when they met working as servers in a restaurant. They hit it off from the start. But it was a while before Ricky finally took the plunge and asked Carla out.
That invitation turned into a nearly 6-hour date that kicked off the beginning of the rest of their lives.
Coming to Costa Rica
Carla’s great grandmother had come to the US from Puerto Limon on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. This meant that the country had always held a special place in her heart.
Carla and Ricky’s first international trip as a couple also brought them to Costa Rica. It seemed fitting, then, to say their “I do’s” in this beautiful country that is special to both of them.
Photo Booth Fun
After the ceremony, Carla and Ricky opted to have a photo booth open for their guests while they snacked on munchies and enjoyed some drinks.
This turned out to be great fun for the guests, as well as an awesome way for the bride and groom to get a photo of each of their guests. Wedding days can go by in a flurry and it’s nice to have those tangible memories to look back on.
I often try to get candid photos of guests during the reception for this very reason, but it’s hard to get everyone. I’m focused on shooting the key points of the wedding and I can’t remember everyone’s face to make sure I get them all.
Setting up a photo booth with another photographer and giving guests the opportunity to get their picture taken with their family or friends was a great way to document everyone that came to celebrate.
Rocking Out at the Reception
As a wedding photographer, I’ve seen a lot of dance parties. Carla and Ricky seriously had one of the best ones I’ve ever seen.
