A Sky Lantern Wedding to Light Up the Night in Costa Rica

Dara and Ash decided to invite their closest friends and family to their sky lantern wedding at Villa El Cantico, here in Manuel Antonio. It was a very intimate wedding with about 12 guests, just the perfect size to fit onto the Villa’s balcony that overlooks the ocean and Manuel Antonio National Park.

It was a great ceremony with the officiate also playing the guitar as the bride walked in. After the ceremony and a quick champagne toast, we headed down to the beach for some family photos and a portrait session for Dara and Ash.

Dara and Ash were having so much fun, and enjoying each other’s company, I basically just had to hang back and catch all the tender moments between the two of them. The sky had a few clouds that cooled down the afternoon a bit, and also made for some really dramatic clouds for the sunset. It was gorgeous!

As the sun went down the guests started sending up Sky Lanterns. After all, you can’t have a sky lantern wedding without sky lanterns! This is a great tradition and an excellent way to end a wedding by the beach. It gets everyone involved from the kids to the adults, and it is so beautiful to see all the sky lanterns heading off into the night.
