Shannon and Claire

Last month I was honored to photograph Shannon and Claire’s wedding at Bejuco Beach, here in Costa Rica. Shannon and Claire, are such a cool couple, totally relaxed and into having fun and enjoying every moment, and the wedding ceremony reflected that perfectly.

We started the day at Casa Velas where they were staying in Playa Esterillos just a few minutes away. The wedding guests were made up of just two of their closest friends, who helped us with everything throughout the day, especially with setting up a tender and joyous first look between the two brides.

We then drove over to Playa Bejuco, which turned out to be the perfect venue that day because we had the whole beach to ourselves. We just set up where we thought would be the best place and started the ceremony. Some of my favorite photos are of Shannon and Claire’s friends during the ceremony.

You can see in their faces just how happy they are seeing their friends marry. It was a very emotional ceremony. Later, I was able to take Shannon and Claire for a walk down the beach for their portrait session. As they are always having fun and joking around, it was a breeze to just ask them to do some kind of activity and I could just hang back and shoot, knowing that they would show me some authentic emotions as they just focused on each other and enjoyed the moment.

One of the great things about Playa Bejuco is that it is a long beach, and at low tide the colors of the sky reflect in the wet sand along the whole beach that just seems to go on forever.
