A Wild and Intimate Waterfall Wedding | Nick & Jason at Nauyaca
Some weddings break from tradition in the most spectacular ways. Nick and Jason’s intimate celebration at Costa Rica’s Nauyaca Waterfalls was one of them.
The morning started with an adventurous hike as the couple led their nine closest friends down the jungle trail to the falls. The descent through the rainforest built anticipation until the group finally emerged at the base of the massive 200-foot waterfall. Recent rains had raised the water level, so everyone stood ankle-deep during the ceremony – an unexpected touch that made the moment even more memorable.
Nick and Jason exchanged vows with the thundering cascade behind them, their small group of guests forming a semicircle in the crystal-clear water. After the ceremony, backpacks were opened and champagne appeared. The group raised their glasses in celebration, the sound of popping corks mixing with laughter and the roar of the falls.
We captured group photos at the base of the waterfall before Nick, Jason, and I ventured to the upper falls for some portraits. The change in perspective offered stunning backdrops for intimate shots of the newlyweds.
The celebration ended perfectly – with everyone jumping into the waterfall pools for a swim. Wedding attire got soaked, but no one minded. It was exactly the kind of uninhibited celebration that suited this adventurous couple.
Nauyaca Waterfalls provided more than just a backdrop. From the morning hike to the water-soaked ceremony to the final celebratory swim, every moment felt authentic and unscripted. Nick and Jason’s wedding proved that sometimes the best celebrations are the ones that go with the flow.
