Just the Two of Us in Costa Rica: An Elopement Story
Ahh, just the two of us in Costa Rica.
Has the thought ever crossed your mind? Wedding planning is stressful, and the idea of running off to elope in and exotic place like Costa Rica is appealing for many couples.
It certainly was for Stephanie and Cameron! For an adventurous couple looking for a place they could relax and celebrate their relationship without a lot of fanfare, Costa Rica certainly fit the bill.

A Match Made on the Internet
Stephanie and Cameron’s love story began back in 2017 the way many modern love stories are starting to begin — on the Internet. The spark was real and strong and within four months Cameron was packing his bags to move cities so they could be together.
Fast forward a couple of years and they were ready to make things official.
Why Just the Two of Us in Costa Rica?
A traditional wedding just didn’t seem the right fit for Stephanie and Cameron. They loved the thought of being able to make their wedding just about celebrating the two of them.
Both of them had traveled to Costa Rica in the past. They both loved the country and felt that it’s vibe was very much “them”. They loved the kindness of the people, the gorgeous and diverse wildlife, and the super relaxed atmosphere.
It wasn’t a hard decision to hop on a plane and get married in this exotic Latin American destination!
Special Memories for a Special Couple
They didn’t want the over-the-top all-inclusive resort experience, instead opting to stay at the Boutique Hotel, Makanda, a quiet, adult’s only boutique hotel nestled in the rainforest close to the beach in Manuel Antonio. This hotel is perfect for couples who want a quiet place to relax in comfort, but enjoy gorgeous nature all around them.
The ceremony was held on the nearby beach and Stephanie and Cameron made it all the more unique by writing their own vows. They got swept away by the strength of their love a little during the ceremony, but I love capturing those poignant moments for couples. Those are the photographs that will inspire them when they look back decades from now. Those are the ones that their children will cherish if they decide to start a family (other than their fat cat named George, lol).
They also opted for a Trash the Dress, or “Day After” session at Nahomi Park in Quepos. These sessions are a fun way for the couple to “let down their hair” after the wedding jitters have passed and just enjoy making a few memories with one another.
Just the Two of You
Ever caught yourself thinking, “what if it were just the two of us in Costa Rica?” Big weddings at home are nice to be able to celebrate with all your friends and family. But it’s a lot of fanfare and not every couple is all about that.
When you’d like to settle back, relax, and focus on just the two of you, a destination wedding in Costa Rica can be just what the wedding planner ordered.
