Glamming It Up: A Glamping Wedding in Costa Rica!

I’ve seen a lot of unique weddings in my time shooting destination weddings in Costa Rica. I’ve photographed luxury weddings at Hotel Villa Caletas and Zephyr Palace, intimate beach elopements, riotous beach parties, and even a crazy cool Hindu-Muslim wedding!

Kate and Ju’s glamping wedding was like nothing I’ve ever seen before, though.

Come along and take a look at this stunning, glamorous wedding they put together in literally the middle of nowhere.

Before we get into the awesomeness that was their glamping wedding, let me introduce you to the couple. Their first date lasted 5 hours, so it’s safe to say that it went quite well. 

Fast forward to their wedding. They didn’t want to go the traditional route and instead wanted to create a lasting experience for themselves and their closest friends and family members. This got them started researching Costa Rica and learning about the options available.

Once they saw Kinkára, they knew that this was the memorable experience they were looking for.

Kinkára: Luxury in the Jungle

Stay on the Costanera highway that follows the Pacific coastline and go past the popular tourist areas of Jacó and Manuel Antonio. Right before you get to Dominical, turn inland and start heading into the mountainous jungles until you get to San Isidro del General, a decent-sized city. But you’re not there yet. Keep going for another 20 minutes or so and you’ve finally arrived at Kinkára, a surprisingly luxurious resort nestled in the jungle. 

The folks at Kinkára are all about nature, health, and wellness. Enjoy a hike up Chirripó, Costa Rica’s tallest peak, a yoga class, a delightful meal prepared from produce grown right on their farm, or a relaxing stroll around the lovely grounds during the cool of the evening.

And where do the guests stay? In tents! 

But these aren’t your regular camping tents, these are luxury tents complete with comfortable beds, lights, WiFi, and netted windows to keep out the bugs. 

As soon as they saw it, Kate and Ju were so excited to share this experience with their family and friends!

A Glamping Wedding in Costa Rica

The wedding itself was stunning. The staff at Kinkára set up a lovely ceremony location just outside the circle of tents and intricately laid out gardens. The lush, green, Costa Rican countryside stretched out behind the couple as they made their vows. Their friend officiated the wedding, which added a nice special touch. 

Afterward, they all gathered under a covered patio to enjoy fresh, healthy food from Kinkára’s gardens. Strings of lights hung from the rustic wooden ceiling lent a warm atmosphere to the event. 

All-in-all it was a very good day.

Your Wedding in Costa Rica

So, is it possible to have a gorgeous, glamorous wedding while camping in the middle of nowhere? I’d say that Kate and Ju’s glamping wedding certainly proves that you can!
