Dodging the Rain for a Delightful Wedding in Dominical, Costa Rica

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to shoot Amanda and Jeremy’s intimate wedding at Costa Paraiso hotel in Dominical, Costa Rica. Costa Paraiso is an incredible location for a wedding, as the hotel sits right in front of Dominicalito beach and has a stunning view of the surf pounding the rocks just yards away.

When I came to meet Amanda and Jeremy a couple days before the wedding, it was raining like crazy and it didn’t look like it was going to let up anytime soon. Needless to say we were a little worried that it might rain the day of the wedding, but Amanda and Jeremy seemed so cool and laid back, that I knew even if it did rain, we would have fun and get some cool photos. Lucky for us though, it rained a little in the morning, and the afternoon of the ceremony cleared up with just a few clouds in the sky.

We started the day with Amanda getting ready with her friends in family in her bungalow, before moving down to the beach for the ceremony. Jeremy’s father was the minister, and it was a real tender ceremony. Afterwards we walked a little ways down Dominicalito beach for the family portraits, and photos of just Amanda and Jeremy. I saw a little kid riding by on his beach cruiser, or what we call a banana bike here in Costa Rica. I asked him if we could borrow it for a few minutes and we were able to get some interesting photos. The day ended with some cool colors and dramatic clouds as the sun set under the horizon.
