Creative Photos on a Rainy Wedding Day
This was the most rain I had ever seen at a wedding. Fortunately, Lyndsey and Dan had a great attitude and we were able to be creative and get some great photos. The rain turned out to be an interesting challenge and it forced us to try a lot of new things. I love how the images came out.
The wedding ceremony was held on the beach in front of Manuel Antonio National Park. Luckily we had a covered tent to keep us all dry.
For the portrait session, Lyndsey, Dan and I ventured out in the rain to see what kind of photos we could come up with. I had my assistant holding two umbrellas over me to keep my gear dry as we got some cool pictures with the mist on the beach. I’m glad Lyndsey convinced her friends and family to come out in the rain for the portraits as it made for some fun photos.
Afterward, the reception was held at La Cantina restaurant at Hotel Costa Verde here in Manuel Antonio. I felt like we needed to do something more since the rain made the afternoon dark really early. So, I took Lyndsey and Dan away from the party for a few minutes to continue with the portraits.
Between the two bathrooms in the restaurant there happens to be a tiny spot with a wall made out of wine bottles. So we tried lighting it a bit differently to see what would happen and we were able to get some real dramatic portraits in front of these wine bottles.
Trash the Dress
The following morning we had scheduled a Day After Session/ Trash the Dress at Playitas beach. After all the rain the day before, the next morning turned out to be just perfect – blue skies with just a few clouds. As they promised the night before, Lyndsey and Dan weren’t shy about getting in the water.
